Concert Band Concert

Miller Quad
The Millikin University Concert Band, conducted by Dr. Sharon Huff, will present an outdoor band concert on the Dr. J. Roger Miller Quad at 4 p.m. on Friday, September 19, 2008. The University Concert Band includes music majors, minors and non majors at Millikin and performs on campus at the Kirkland Fine Arts Center along with the Symphonic Wind Ensemble. Last year the University Concert Band performed on the Miller Quad for the dedication ceremony honoring Dr. J. Roger Miller, President of Millikin University.

Have your picture taken on Millikin’s beautiful campus. Miller’s Studio of Photography will be on campus to take group/family photographs. There is no sitting fee. Pictures will be available online to purchase.
15th Annual Oakwood Street Festival 10:00am-1:00pm

This year’s festival includes a marketplace with games and information sponsored by Millikin’s student organizations, as well as, numerous entertainment activities. You can also catch Mike Da Roving Guy and his balloon art, along with Body Art by Margaret, among the many booths at the festival.
The festival will also feature musical entertainment by Millikin student groups. The headline performer will be Lynn Trefzger, a comedian ventriloquist. Lynn’s vocal illusions and comedy is amusing, humor-packed entertainment that ensures a time full of fun and amazement. You will not want to miss her!

This is a lighthearted, high-energy look at one eventful day in the life of a fourth-grader, Samantha, the new girl in town, who has lost her beloved cat, Corky. At the bus stop, Samantha meets three new friends who welcome her into their class which just happens to be studying the animal kingdom. Nineteen humorous--and sometimes serious--poems of David L. Harrison are woven into the script as dialogue. Instead of bursting into song, the characters break out in poetry!
