Disciplinary Sanctions
Standard Sanctions for Residence Hall Disciplinary Violations
It is our goal to create responsible citizens
within the residence life community. Therefore, it is necessary to
hold students accountable for behavior that is inconsistent with
good citizenship. The outline below indicates standard sanctions for
common policy violations.
Level I- Resident Assistant
Level II- Area Coordinator
Level III- Area Coordinator and/or Director, Residence Life

to Person Violence

Discipline
session with AC (or upper level judicial officer depending on
severity of violation), ban from hall in which violence
occurred (if not own residence) or curfew for an assigned
period of time (if own residence), and/or required anger
management program and meeting with Director of Safety &
Security to determine police department involvement. Student
may also be reassigned to or suspended from residence without
consultation.

fines are per violation incurred
- Judicial
officers reserve the right to deviate from the above sanction
list as well as to assign additional sanctions if deemed
necessary.
- Failure
to complete sanctions or to comply with reasonable requests of a
University official may result in additional sanctions.
- All
funds raised from disciplinary fines will benefit professional
development for Residence Hall staff as well as in-hall
programming.
- If
a student cannot pay the assigned fine, they may be employed
on-campus (at the discretion of the judicial officer) in order
to work off their assigned fine. One hour of work will
constitute $5 towards the assigned fine.
- This
list is not meant to be an all-inclusive list of violations.
Judicial officers reserve the right to interpret violation of
Millikin University Policies.
- Violations
of State, local, or federal law are also considered violation of
Millikin University policies.
- When
a felony is committed, the Decatur Police Department will be
involved in addition to any University sanctions deemed
necessary.
