Explore Traditional Chinese medicine and culture in China

Where? The ChangChun College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in ChangChun, China

When?   Tentative dates:  May 19 - 31 on campus and June 1 - 14 in China

What?  Two cohorted courses are offered—you must enroll for both:

  • NU 350/IN 350 Exploring Traditional Chinese Medicine (Dr. Karla Luxner) 
  • SO 350/IN 350 Transcultural Health Care: Focus on China (Dr. Jo Carter)

These two 3 credit courses will provide a comparative analysis of healthcare and culture in China and the U.S. Both courses take advantage of opportunities to practice traditional Chinese medicine techniques and explore Chinese history and culture. Side trips may include visits to the Great Wall, the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square in Beijing, and Mongolia!

The courses will meet requirements for Global Studies courses, culture track courses, off-campus learning, and electives.

Cost? Costs include airfare, housing and food (together estimated to be approximately $2770), plus 6 credit hours of summer tuition, textbooks, etc. You will also be required to have a passport that is valid until December 31, 2005 and a visa for China. A $500 deposit will be required by January 1, 2008.
