Multicultural Student Council (MSC)

The Multicultural Student Council (MSC) is the governing body for all historically underrepresented student organizations supported by the Center for Multicultural Student Affairs. The primary purpose of MSC is to promote unity among historically underrepresented student organizations through the development of a yearly comprehensive calendar, collaborative programs, and consistent assessment of resources and opportunities for students from historically underrepresented populations.

The following organizations are included under the MSC umbrella:

Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

The oldest traditionally African-American fraternity in the U.S, developing scholarship and brotherhood among college-aged men, has a chapter at Millikin University.

Black Student Union (BSU)

Black Student Union, formerly known as the Black Emphasis Association, was established in 1968 to unite black and other students on campus. BSU strives to bring black students together for cultural education and enrichment and also aims to continue to bridge the gaps that exist among campus cultural groups in order to promote understanding, awareness, and sensitivity.

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

An historically African-American sorority that provides collective strength to promote academic excellence and provide assistance to persons in need, has a chapter at Millikin University.

International Student Organization

ISO is comprised of International and American students who are interested in exploring cultural diversity. ISO sponsors annual events such as Chinese New Year Celebration, Moon Festival and International Night. "Taste of Culture" programs give the campus community the opportunity to learn about the native countries of Millikin's international students. Members also enjoy spending social time together.

Latin American Student Organization (LASO)

LASO was established in 1993 to address issues and concerns unique to Latinos on Millikin's campus and within the Latino community. The organization sponsors such events as Salsa Night and Fiesta de Cinco de Mayo, a Latino film festival, and various other cultural programs throughout the year.

Minority Report

Minority Report promotes creative expression of students through their artistic abilities.  These may include dance, poetry, drama, vocal and instrumental music. Minority Report's dance team competes in various local, regional and state competitions.

Multicultural Voices of Praise Gospel Choir (MVOP)

Millikin University's Multicultural Voices of Praise Gospel Choir provides an avenue through which members of the Millikin community can come together to praise and worship God in song. The group also uses the ministry of music as a tool of witness in an effort to uplift the Kingdom of Heaven here on earth.

Queers & Allies (Q & A)

Q & A is an organization committed to dismantling oppression in all forms, and provides a safe space, support, and counsel for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender students, allies, and those questioning their sexuality. In addtion, it educates the student body, faculty, staff, and administration of Millikin University on issues pertinent to the community; facilitates discussion of current issues; sponsors activities; provides opportunities; and celebrates differences and similarities among individuals from all walks of life.

Sigma Lambda Gamma Sorority, Inc., Millikin Colony

This multicultural sorority colony, recently established at Millikin University, focuses on raising awareness and educating the campus about different cultures and lifestyles.

Sister Circle

This organization was established to address the needs and concerns of women, specifically African-American women, focusing on issues such as academics, career development, standards of beauty, sexuality, and relationships.
