Professional Adult Comprehensive Education (PACE) Program

Professional Adult Comprehensive Education, or PACE, provides adult learners an accelerated, time-wise way to complete their degrees through Millikin University. Students take accelerated courses, one at a time, which helps them focus on learning better and faster.

PACE coursework allows each student to quickly achieve his or her goal of completing a degree. Most courses are held once a week to offer nontraditional students the flexibility to continue making a living while learning. Individualized PACE programs can be arranged to complete up to eight courses in one year, making it fast and efficient. Busy professionals can accelerate their education and accelerate their career potential.

PACE offers degree programs in Organizational Leadership, Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Accounting, Criminal Justice, and Nursing. See the Prospective Students page for admissions requirements and more information.

Mission

The PACE Program delivers on the Millikin promise of education by preparing adult students for professional success, democratic citizenship in a global environment, and a personal life of meaning and value.

Program Structure
Once a student has been admitted into the program, he or she will either begin classes in a cohort (student group), which start at various times throughout the year, or will take pre-major courses. PACE classes will be offered sequentially for the cohort group, with students generally taking one course at a time.  Courses meet in an accelerated format, with most lasting five weeks (for a 3-credit hour course).

The first assignment is prepared prior to the first night of class and is due at the first class meeting, and the final assignment may be due one week after the last night of class.  An estimated 10-20 hours per week of outside course work is expected in the accelerated format.

PACE students work with case studies, assignments, and projects in which they make connections from their studies to their particular place of employment or to their new field.
